This beautiful cosy cottage has been recently refurbished in a stylish and contemporary fashion, respecting many of the original features. It is nestled mid-terrace of a barn conversion in the beautiful location of Higher Batson, a peaceful and hidden corner of the South Hams, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just a twenty-minute walk along the estuary to Salcombe. In Salcombe you will find plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants to while away the hours. Within easy reach of supermarkets and local markets.

Oyster Cottage is perfect for a family holiday home as it has a secure rear garden with views across the valley where both the dogs and children can play. With ample parking for up to 2 cars, this property also welcomes our four legged friends to join us at an additional price of £35 per dog. This quiet, rural and secluded place is sheltered from the wind and brimming with wildlife however only a stones throw from the busy seaside town of Salcombe.

There are numerous walks, straight from the house, such as the well-known and favourite walk to the National Trusts Snape’s Point, with stunning views over Salcombe’s estuary. Also accessible nearby are popular walking areas such as the South West Coastal Footpath and Dartmoor.

Oyster Cottage is the perfect place to visit many historic and local towns such as Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Totnes, all offering a fine selection of shops, eateries and history. Also close by are several National Trust properties and iconic locations including Overbecks Garden, Bolberry Down and Mill Bay with its golden sandy beaches which are very dog friendly and child friendly.

Oyster Cottage is an ideal base for family holidays with close access to family friendly and safe beaches and water sports, cosy for couples and looking for an out of season coastal short break.

House description

Oyster Cottage is accessed down a footpath through the beautifully kept communal gardens and parking area. Outside is a small patio with a wrought iron cottage style patio set to catch the morning sun with a cup of coffee. You enter the cottage via the welcoming and handy front porch ideal for storing coats and boots which then leads you into a lovely open plan sitting room with a fabulous wood burner and two comfortable sofas. It is the perfect place to unwind, relax, and make plans for another lovely day.

The sitting room leads through to an open plan dining area which is spacious and looks out to the rear patio area and has the advantage of a stable door to let in the fresh air. The farmhouse table is situated beside the convenient serving hatch from the kitchen, handy for serving breakfast or a piping hot Sunday lunch.

This property has a fully equipped galley kitchen with all you would need to cater during your stay. The benefits of a dishwasher, washing machine and 50/50 fridge freezer are ideal for a family stay. From the kitchen is another stable door leading into the sheltered rear garden, ideal when using the al fresco dining area where there is seating for 6 as well as a barbecue, perfect for wining and dining on lazy warm summer evenings. Steps in the garden lead you up to a lawn area, where you will find a picnic table with lovely valley views.

A staircase from the living area leads you to the first floor, where there are three very comfortable and tastefully decorated bedrooms and a modern bathroom.

Bedroom one and two both have double beds, bedside tables, chests of drawers and ample space for your personal belongings. The bedroom windows at the front of the house have fantastic views onto the communal gardens and the stunning countryside in the distance. The bedroom windows at the back of the house overlook the green oasis of the rear garden.

Bedroom three has bunk beds and handy shelves for clothes and other personal belongings.

The light and modern bathroom has a shower over bath, washbasin, towel radiator and toilet.

You will need to catch a water taxi from Whitestrand to cross the harbour.
