What makes Jack’s Stay so special from the owner

Jack’s Stay is more than just a nod to Salcombe’s rich maritime history. Its very name illustrates the affection our family has for the sea

‘Jack’ is an old slang term meaning ‘Sailor’ and ‘Stay’ is a nautical term referring to a cable, between two ships or a ship to a port which was used to haul goods and sometimes even personnel between two points.

Our seafaring family history spans generations. With childhood family holidays in Salcombe, an Aunt from neighbouring Cornwall and a stint at Dartmouth Naval College – All testament to our deep family affiliation for all things nautical.

Now the younger generation is getting involved with sailing lessons. Even Darcy our Cockerpoo enjoys a splash in the waves and a run around on one of the nearby sandy beaches.

Things to do
